2016

Sonya Davey

2016 Vice President of Special Events and Programming

Sonya hopes to understand how technology, medicine, and entrepreneurship can be combined to increase access to healthcare. She is passionate about global health equity, and as a Gates-Cambridge scholar, she has conducted ethnographic research on women’s healthcare in India and Tanzania. Sonya is interested in low-cost medical devices, and has started two social ventures, Ultrasafe Ultrasound and SelfCerve. At HealthX, she is excited to meet other students interested in leveraging technology and policy towards global health solutions.

Shawn Ma

2016 Vice President of Finance

Shawn is passionate about the intersection of medicine, business, and computer technology – which he thinks will lead to revolutionary healthcare changes in the near future. Shawn was initially interested in these fields independently, taking computer science classes in college and serving on the board of directors for a multi-million dollar purchasing cooperative. HealthX talks and mentors helped consolidate these interests, which he hopes to continue to explore and develop throughout his medical education and career.
