Joan Li

Joan is passionate about improving healthcare delivery and economics. She sees enormous potential in building a more efficient healthcare system, with higher quality care, greater access and reduced costs. She began exploring the intersection of healthcare and management in college, and holds a dual-degree in business from the Wharton School and biology at Penn. Between college and medical school, she spent 3 years at McKinsey & Company as a strategy consultant in the Healthcare Systems and Services practice. She served hospital systems and healthcare payors on a broad range of issues that include hospital operations, clinical transformation, quality improvement, patient engagement, healthcare regulation and growth strategy. 

Joan hopes to one day combine the deeply meaningful one-on-one patient-physician interactions with high-level health policy and management work. She hopes that learning how to heal an individual patient will help her in learning how to heal the healthcare system. At HealthX, she is excited to meet other students who are interested in health systems work.
